Hello and Good Day.
This is a ban appeal for my Minecraft persona, "Nathanness".
I believe I was banned after obtaining diamond ore in one of my mines.
Now, when I noticed a message from one of the Staff, referring to myself and the diamond ore I had just
obtained, I had desired to give a thorough explanation for my actions and my regular mining techniques.
But as the Staff member seemed impatient and was implying an imminent ban, the short and hurried explanation I provided most likely worsened the situation. Of course, I do not mean to imply offence to this Staff member or their methods, so please do not take it that way.
I am an avid user of the "strip mining" method, as it seems to me to be the most efficient way to obtain ores of all sorts. As well as this, I have developed differing techniques that seem to improve the frequency at which I can discover these ores, techniques that I have tested thoroughly in the course of my time spent on Minecraft. One of these techniques, I refer to as the "Cosmological Principle", which, when applied to a game such as Minecraft, I believe is defined as- "The location of the Player is not the most privileged location in the game. There are desireable ores in random directions all around you, even if you can't yet see them yourself." I utilize this method by taking little changes in the environment around me, even one as small as having a thin vein of dirt occupying the corner of a mine shaft, and using that as an indication to expand the mine shaft outward in all directions, to reveal any ores that might lie in the area. Once I have expanded out a little bit, or I have found an ore of any sort, I continue on my way.
On this occasion, I happened upon diamond ore, which was a pleasant surprise, as I had a feeling that it was going to be iron ore, if anything.
I realize that there are client modifications that allow the player to see through the "blocks" on Minecraft.
I also realize the advantages that this modification might provide, but I believe that these advantages are not very fair, and would entirely remove the thrill experienced from discovering these ores (the thrill that I myself experience, anyway). As such, I would not seek to obtain these modifications even if I was aware of the methods used to obtain them.
As I have been spending my free time on the Minerealm server for quite a while now, I have seen many people accused of illegally obtaining ores, suspected of obtaining them through the methods provided by the afore-mentioned modifications. I can see that when pressed, they provide suspicious explanations about they themselves having methods of discovering these ores by digging down in random directions, in the dark. It is definitely not my place to speculate on whether or not they are telling the truth in these explanations, but because even I can see how suspicious they seem, I can understand the reasons that my own explanation might provide some suspicion to any Staff members.
Because of this, I would definitely be willing to relinquish any and all of the ores I have obtained in return for the privilege of returning to Minerealm. I put much more value in the thrill of obtaining these ores, than I do in actually keeping them.
I would also like to apologize for any actions or statements that I may have made, or have ever made, that might have been detrimental in any way to the proper running of Minerealm, such as my insultingly simplistic preliminary explanation.
So, for your consideration, I present my ban appeal, in hopes that I may return to spending my time on Minerealm for many years more,
and continuing to see what excitement and changes this great server might bring.
Thank you for your time.
