Im under the impression that things like water are ignored by the counter. And when someone griefs you by destroying you lose those destroyed blocks in the count, but when you place them back your net count is 0 from the start of greifing, +1 if you are counting from the moment the realm started. So after you fix the grief you should be fine.

Spiders can't climb glass either, but tbh i hadn't even thought about actually using the sand falling thing to build. I was just thinking about using it to have the server break the block instead of a player. I think ive talked enough about sand for a while.

Questions:

Do realms give any advantage besides a few possible enable/disables if its a realm of one? It seems to me that with the messages for entering and leaveing a realm, if someone is living solo out in the middle of nowhere, it might be better for them to not create a realm since it would give away that they are there.
If someone does find them, they can always create a realm real quick and turn off pvp, but with no realm message they might go undetected totally.

Can the owner of the realm pick the warp in location for the realm or is it locked to the center of the realm?

Can realms declare themselves hostile to another realm or can they ally? Would it even matter, since realms really only change a couple settings and gain a warp?

Would it be possible for an owner to share some power? For large realms they may need someone with the power to invite folks in more often that the owner is on. Example is kurachi, panther has a couple people he trusts to decide who can and can't live in the city.

aqua797 wrote:one last sand question(i think). what if we are building an object out of sand, and rather than thaking a death jump, you decide to place your sand wall be repetidly placing sand in the same spot so it can fall to the ground instead of you? would only the first sand block count? this would be a major con because sand is one of the only materials that spiders can't climb, and IS the only economical way of placing an anti spider wall with out a lip/overhang.

If you're placing blocks in the same spot repeatedly, it won't count.

also, if i dug up the sand around my house, and crafted it into sandstone(1 sandstone for every 4 sand), would placing the sandstone still count as +1, or would it be +0?

It would be +1

Like cerevox, i like to build underground with cobble(better looking hallways, castles, houses, ect.) would i not get credit for any of that work?

This has not yet been determined.

If i place mossy cobble in place of stone will it still be counted as +0?

Obviously +1

If we repair griefer damage done to our realm with the same blocks destroyed, did we lose points for what was griefed, and do we gain points for fixing it?

Gain points for fixing it. Lost points during the destruction.

as for the underground building will not be counted possibility, what would that mean for underwater cities such as the highly likely aquaria v2.0, or my planned aqua dome city?

This has not yet been determined.

Not really, it's just a guild.

Center.

No.

Yes, a realm can have multiple leaders.

The realm idea does sound good, the warp only being in the center might be annoying. What happens if the realm expands unevenly, does it stay in the 'center' and move within the world, or does it always remain stationary?

I assume it's only possible to be a member of one realm at a time?

Also, it would be nice to be able to choose the direction of expansion. Although you (or team members) could place other realms directly bordering your realm in the directions you don't want to expand to.

The members who creaed the external realms would still be able to warp basically to the realm.

A couple of ideas:

What if instead of automatically expanding, once the realm reached the size to have expansions available, one of the owners could go to the edge of the realm and give a /realm expand command to expand in that direction?

It also would be nice (in the future) to be able to be able to define sub-realms within a realm (someone's home for example) or a restricted area within the realm.

An idea that would make this (and tons of other ideas) easier to implement would be to: allow a player to be a member of more than 1 realm (maybe one primary?). Configure the realms so that they are a 'grid' based instead of square. Expansions are done one grid square at a time, and you could define a square within a realm to another realm or some such so that it behaved like a nested realm. It might make sense to use chunk boundaries for the 'grid.' It might also make sense to require a 1 chunk (16) meter space between the outsides of realms so people can't get trapped.

Example: blue area is the main 'public' realm. Green is a private realm within the public realm that has the warehouse and other sensitive realm buildings. The red area is a player housing area or something. This way you can allow anyone into your realm but only restrict the internal sections to 'Citizens' and the like.

@ billknye

1. You can only create a single realm (at a time).
2. If you're within a realm, you can't create a realm. (You can only be a member of 1 realm at a time)
3. The warp point within the realm will always stay at the same location.
4. We have no intentions of having "realms within realms". Realms are more-so designed as a type of group/guild.

@Intelli:

For this thread are you talking about specific intentions for the first version of Realms or your vision of how they should work into the future, say MineRealm 3.0? For a first version I think what you have already outlined is awesome and will add a huge element to the game play. I just forsee down the road players wanting more, as they always do.
