I disagree with Rokk as well. In battlefield at least if your playing a server with to many campers there's hundreds of others to pick from. We only have one nether.

Anyways, the old days are gone. The polls shows people are in favor of a toggle command and it's alright for us as a community to argue about it. That's how we make a server better. Who knows maybe people point of views can change depending on what other say.

Nether is set to easy and you see maybe one Ghast per week if you're lucky, most of which can't hit you due to the massive amount of mess the Quartz rush left, and can be killed by one arrow!

To be honest the entire nether NEEDS a wipe, it's worse than the overworld just in a smaller area.
As a matter of fact, he didn't play the same MineRealm as you. He played it back in the old days, when ghasts were everywhere and PVP was a huge part of guild politics. It used to be involved and exciting, I assure you.
If you think about it, the Skycity vs. Soviet Russia ordeal was probably the last true PVP war between guilds, and even then, many people now were not there to see it. Most people now just don't understand that PVP used to be the main part of politics for the large guilds. Truthfully, guilds now are nothing more than just races, "Let's see who has the most realms, the most players, or the most money." We just do not have that good old "brotherhood" feeling anymore, when there were only five guilds leading the server, unlike 20 today. PVP back then used to be the main part of Minerealm, and everything revolved around it. Nowadays, it's just petty competitions. I really wish we could bring back the old guild system.

How many times do we have to tell people you don't like the portal campers, well use your own portal. No one is forcing you to use the one at spawn.I'm sure I'll see comments such as "Well I shouldn't have to enter another portal" yet I see suggestions to make people go out of their way to the wilderness and the end to get open pvp. As far as people hiding in the nether and using invis pots to patrol high traffic areas like wither pads. Well that's the point of why they are there, they know it's guaranteed players will be there.

If anything this will get rejected/implemented as it is multiple ideas which many disagree on one and not the other. You should have waited and posted the second one at a different time. You want the nether hard, then instead of raising the difficulty let's raise it to wilderness level, double damage, that would make people think twice before entering.

Anyways I can go on and on about every single comment made in here but that would take all day. So this is the short version.
I get you rokkr I really do, but the reason I enjoy playing on Minerealm is BECAUSE pvp is disabled in the overworld. Minecraft to me is about building, and in Minerealms case an economy to boot.
I quit playing games like Battlefield because people in general are jerks who use cheap tactics to get a high rank, doorway campers etc...
And your'e right, I steer clear of the spawn portal for exactly this reason.
But lets be honest for a second MC pvp is a complete joke, the fastest player to mash the buttons does not equal aiming skills that you find in traditional FPS games.
What MR really needs is organised tournaments using the many arenas to be found around the map, but that's down to the players to organize not staff.
I know I missed out on the old style MR where guild wars were the norm, but the public voted to remove PvP (from what I understand anyway) and that changed the nature of MR to what it is today.

Either way I know this will get rejected and I'm cool with that. It won't lessen my enjoyment/addiction with playing here in any way :P

Pvp was kinda ruined by enchants and potions, because the gear got so expensive and players didn't want to lose the gear that they spent so much time and money making, just from fighting someone, and because people could just poison pot and slow pot you then just run away to snipe till you die. Pots also ruined pvp with the invis pots, which I'm not even going to go into. When I pvp, I only do wood sword unarmoured pvp with no other items, and the last time I had a proper organised pvp "tournament", it was three rounds in the spawn arena with the buckets (I forget what it's called), with 3 people on each team and only steak as weapons.

In traditional fps games, the higher rank you get and the better at the game you get, the better weapons you get giving you a huge advantage over the newbies. This leads to people camping to rank up because of all the people who are better than them who have superior weapons and skills, so the higher ranked players get annoyed by the newbies camping and camp themselves. These skilled campers make the people that everyone hates, and their annoying-ness is just made worse by the comments some of them make on their mics. I could never get into fps games since I was playing other genres of games most of the time, and when I started trying to play cod, I sucked at it and everyone had better weapons than me, was much more skilled than me, and made annoying comments on how bad I was. I hated campers, so I never camped to level up, and ultimately I just quit playing them and went back to my other games. Minecraft pvp can't really be compared to fps games, since it is different in principle completely and since the organisation of it is different.

Having not been here when guilds wars were here either, I only know guilds as basically chat rooms, since my guild is basically a bunch of friends who decided to join together and build at the same place. My guild has never been involved in pvp against another guild, and most of them choose not to pvp on their own anyway.

Seeing as we're all in the discussion of guild wars and stuff, when is the guild 2.0 system going to come out? I remember some months ago, when it was announced and people started saving up heaps of credits to pay for their guilds. Wouldn't this system be a solution to all this talk about guilds never fighting? From what I saw, it just seemed to fade into nothing. I might have missed a post saying that it was cancelled or something, but I think it would be a good idea to bring it up again and maybe complete it.

hehe I never really though about potions in pvp Pie.
That makes it sound even more like the garbage that is CoD and perks.

When I mention FPS games I mean the likes of Battlefield where the unlocks don't really give you much advantage over a good player, it's more about working as a team which to me is what pvp is all about.

I would love to have been party to the early days of MR just to see how much the dynamic has changed over the years.
