MineRealm 4.5.3
  • Changed mob-despawning code
  • Implemented item despawning.

MineRealm 4.5.4
  • Added the achievement system.
  • Added the "/profile" command.
  • Deprecated the "/online" command.

In this update, how entity despawning works.

The first change is that calculations are now done on a per-realm basis. Instead of determing the number of mobs in a 6x6 area, it now does it on a per-realm basis.

There is now a maximum of 100 mobs/items allowed per-realm. Additional entities will despawn.

To note, a stack of items only counts as 1 item.

This change was made due to abuse of automatic farms, with thousands of items laying around in spawn realms.

Update:
To clarify, you can have both 100 items AND 100 mobs within a realm. :)

How quick will items despawn in realms that are over the limit?

Is there any chance the item limit could be increased for realms far away from spawn?

The increased mob limit is incredible--thanks so much, Intelli! As for the items limit, could an exception be made for the spawn realms (i.e. where the trade rooms are), just to avoid interference between trades if lots of people are dropping items at the same time?

So those wheat farms harvested with flooding will only yield a total of 100 entities of wheat + seeds... that is like one stack + 36 :/ Going to test this.

Love the update however because:
- Sheep realms of 4 x 4 pens with 4 sheep/pen = 64, but now we can have 100 sheep/realm :D.
- Before this update double spawners where nearly as fast as a tripple/quad. Now we might experience the true power of tripple and quad.

That thought occurred to me as well. The best thing to do would be to have multiple switches, each of which only floods part of the field. Also, hitting the switch and then standing near the start point of the flood would allow you to pick up many of the items right away.
