So I was looking at the "Help promote minerealm" thread, and thought: "why would we vote if there's nothing in it for us?" so. My understanding is you can vote I think 4 times? You should get 25 credits each time you vote, so basically 100 credits. But you can only vote one a day or every other day.

They do this is another server I play on, and I think it's cool.

While this would encourage people to vote, and a lot of new players would be attracted to Minerealm, if there's anyone out there like me they'll disconnect when they see the message of "get diamonds/credits, etc if you vote now!", because voting is really something you do if you really like the server, not if you just want freebies.

No. That doesn't sound very "legit". You only get credits for placing/removing blocks or trading in game.

The point is we don't use incentive to get this great server recognized. Just tell people about it and if you want to vote for the server then do it you don't need a reward for it.

I've done exactly that on quite a few servers that were ranked quite highly on certain voting sites.

I included diamonds just to give another example that many other servers use.



Exactly :3 At that point you realize they aren't high-ranked just because people have voted due to liking them.

That's why donors don't get any extra benefits. That's also why you aren't allowed to trade irl money for credits. It's not only because people who have more money would have a benefit; it's because "What happens irl stays irl."

I feel like the terms 'legit' and 'chocolatey' get abused quite frequently around here. Credits aren't a part of vanilla Minecraft. They can be awarded however Intelli sees fit without the 'legitimacy' of the server being affected in any way.

Personally, I'd support this because it seems like a pretty good way to raise awareness of our server without having any real negative impacts. At a maximum of 100 credits per day being made off of this, it's enough to provide an incentive, but not enough to undermine the value of actual labor. As long as players don't receive obnoxious messages telling them to vote up the server while they're online, I'm definitely in support of this.
