As suggested by LARDIMUS_PRIME here, as a compromise between his harsher suggestion and the convenience of being able to /home to private realms. I suggest that a command be added that allows the owner of a realm to toggle whether users without realm privileges are able to set their homes within that realm. It increases security as per the original, harsher suggestion, while allowing people to /sethome if the owner feels that the additional security would cause more problems than it would benefits. Note that it would only be modifiable by the realm owner, preventing greedy realm members from blocking off desirable disbanding realms, farms that are meant to be public, etc. Also note that realm members would be able to /sethome whether the toggle was on or off.

PROS: It increases security if the owner wishes, and doesn't affect them if they don't.
CONS: Coding (obviously), and the problem that comes with toggling /sethome off while a non-realm member has their /home set in the realm. Would it outright remove the /home point, move it to the nearest safe location outside the realm, or simply leave it enabled? Intelli's decision.

Vote and discuss!

I voted no, because I don't see it adding any tangible benefit to gameplay but do see it requiring more of Intelli's coding time - time which is better spent elsewhere.

If this was a common problem then I'd be more likely to vote "yes". As it is though, I haven't seen much talk either on the forums or in-game complaining about mobs being killed by players /home'ing into private realms. That's really all the damage that they can do if they don't have perms. And if they do, call Staff who can (if the farm is otherwise secure) roll the mobs back and take the necessary action against the person who killed the mobs.

Lul, I'm afraid that if I'm not able to set home in a private realm, I might get lost and get killed and not be able to get back. It's hard to explain my situation. But, now that I'm thinking of it, what if all the free land became private realms? How would new players be able to set a home anywhere? I know that it would probably take a long time to fill all the realms and make them private, but I'm just wondering if we will need to expand Minerealm to like 1000 blocks more. Otherwise, if we aren't able to, I feel bad for the new players who want their own realm.

You know, if you really have a problem with people setting their home where they shouldn't, talk to staff. Thats their job to moderate these issues after all. Plus just secure your farms. Seal off all entrances and levers and don't be lazy. I have my farm sealed with dirt on the entrance and if anyone gets in and /setshome to troll, I report it to staff.

Some argue that it saves staff the trouble, but reporting the trolls like that is good. It will alert staff that this may be a trouble person and if they continue to troll like that they will build up a bad record and will suffer consequences.
